Tuition Freeze Banner

The Tuition FreeZe Program (TZP) guarantees a three‐year freeze on tuition rates for those students that commit to selecting a major and steadily working toward that goal. You will pay the same tuition rate for three years if you meet the initial and continuing eligibility criteria. Three years is defined as a maximum of six 16‐week semesters.

Eligibility

Students are eligible to enroll for the Tuition FreeZe Program during the registration periods of any Fall or Spring semester if they have a total of no more than 12 earned semester hours including transfer hours. (Students cannot register for this program during Summer registration periods.) Hours earned while enrolled in the Alamo Colleges as a dual credit student are excluded from the accumulated hours. This agreement is not available for currently enrolled Dual Credit students.

Complete the Tuition Freeze Agreement:

  1. The agreement is available at http://www01.alamo.edu/district/it/webforstudents.html during registration periods of any Fall or Spring semester. From this site, the student must log on to their college’s Web for Students website.  Select Registration & Schedule, click on Tuition FreeZe, read the requirements, enter the last four digits of the social security number, and click “submit”. and access the Tuition FreeZe Agreement. To complete the application, the student must add the last four numbers of their Social Security Number and submit it to the Alamo Colleges.
  2. By submitting the application form the student indicates that they understand and will adhere to the program requirements. Contact the college counseling/advising office to clarify any questions regarding the Tuition FreeZe Program.

Continuing Eligibility

To maintain eligibility for TZP 3-year enrollment period the student must:
  1. Meet with a counselor/advisor by November 1 for the Fall semester and June 1 for the Spring semester following admission to the program to develop a degree plan;
  2. Successfully complete at least 9 credit hours each fall and spring semester;
  3. Successfully complete at least 3 credit hours each summer;
  4. Enroll in courses required in the declared associate degree program;
  5. Maintain at least a 2.0 overall GPA at all times.

(Completion for the TZP is defined as a grade of A, B, C, D, F, I or IP)

*Degree requirements for technical program majors in Associate of Applied Science Degree or Certificate programs require a grade of “C” or better.
Student may be allowed one “grace” exemption under certain circumstances. Student must see college advisor/counselor.

Registration and Tuition Payments During the Agreement Period

  1. Student is responsible for adhering to all eligibility requirements of the Tuition FreeZe program to include the appropriate number of semester hours for courses required as part of the students declared major.
  2. At the time of registration, the student will be charged the tuition rate in effect at that time. Following the grading period for the previous semester and verification of continuing eligibility the tuition will be adjusted to the “freeze” rate.
  3. Once the student’s grade performance is evaluated for that current semester, the student will be responsible for satisfying payment requirements. Any prior payment made over the “freeze” rate will be refunded.
