PURPOSE:
Improving operational efficiencies through the implementation of operational improvements, or through the management of College or District resources.
ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT
Expert Services or Work Unit Supervision provided by the employee in one or more of the following: - Organizing, planning for, developing, and directing a work unit. - Serving as an organization-wide expert in a professional or technical area.
DUTIES:*
1. Supervise operations of large-scale IBM mainframe computer system.
2. Supervise operations of county-wide data communications network, including local and wide area networks.
3. Supervise production control activities to provide district-wide access to ACCD institutional data.
4. Supervise technical support activities including Help Desk, network, and file server.
5. Specify, analyze, and recommend purchase of all mainframe and network computer equipment and maintenance services for ACCD.
6. Supervise computer and network support activities related to registration.
7. Consult with ACCD users on computer and network equipment purchases and projects.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Extensive knowledge of IBM mainframe computer systems and peripherals; data communications networks (WAN, LAN); microcomputer configuration, networking, and applications; SNA, TCP/IP, and IPX networking; ACCD purchasing, personnel, and budget practices.
Ability to manage other professionals and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Minimum: An Associate's degree (two-year program or two to three years of college) or equivalent.
Preferred: A Bachelor's degree.

Minimum: Three to four years.
Preferred: Five to eight years.
