PRIMARY IMPACT:
Provides standard administrative, technical, or production services or information that support others, and/or organizes data and information that is used and analyzed by others.
DUTIES:*
1. Collect, receipt, and account for monies. Enter appropriate data into the computer.
2. Perform general cashier duties such as verifying change funds; preparing bank deposits; cashing checks; accepting various payments; and verifying, preparing, and distributing district checks (e.g., travel advances, payroll, loans, refunds, and grants). May issue parking permits and account for related fees.
3. Balance daily receipts and transactions.
4. Answer questions regarding transactions. Explain policies and procedures related to area of assignment. Help resolve basic problems.
5. May perform entry-level work such as matching invoice/statements/checks, entering basic accounting data, and pulling or filing documents.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Some knowledge of accounting/bookkeeping practices and general office practices and procedures.
Good filing, customer-service, and oral communication skills; basic computer skills. Must be attentive to details and deadlines.

There is some leeway for changing the order of assigned tasks. However,
prior approval is required before changing the nature of the work performed or
before dealing with unassigned tasks.

MINIMUM AND PREFERRED EDUCATION
Minimum: A high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
Preferred: An Associate's degree (two-year program or two to three years of college) or equivalent formal training.
Some accounting coursework is highly desirable.
MINIMUM AND PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Minimum: Six months to one year.
Preferred: One to two years.
Specifically, the position requires six months of general office
experience. Accounting work experience is highly desirable.
