PURPOSE:

 

Developing programs and processes that provide a service to students and/or other internal College or District customers.

 

ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT

 

Advisory Services or Work Leadership.  The employee provides direct services to customers or collaborates with other professionals by one or more of the following: - Personally assessing situations, obtaining necessary information, drawing conclusions and recommending and/or implementing courses of action in accord with normal practices and procedures. - Advising or training other professionals. - Helping organize the activities and output of fellow workers on a day-to-day basis as a working supervisor or work leader.

 

DUTIES:*

 

1.         Provide quality programs and student-centered activities that enhance the college culture and reflect the interests and needs of surrounding community.

 

2.         Coordinate the involvement of faculty in developing and implementing classroom and out-of-class models to engage students in college events, student organizations, student leadership training, and student support services.

 

3.         Advise faculty on activities providing long-/short-term planning, programmatic, and administrative support.

 

4.         Advise/guide students concerning coursework and degree plans; assist in developing educational plans; evaluate students’ high school and college transcripts.

 

5.         Collect, verify, and input registration data including transcripts, course registration, etc.; work with students to resolve any student holds.

 

6.         Perform other routine administrative support tasks as assigned by the Director/supervisor including preparing entertainment contracts, program marketing materials, facilities set ups, requisitions, PARs, payment requests, etc.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

 

Knowledge of college trends in student leadership and programming.

 

Effective communication and counseling skills; good computer skills including Microsoft Office applications.

 

Leadership abilities; must be creative and willing/able to guide, direct, and plan a wide variety of events.

MINIMUM AND PREFERRED EDUCATION

 

Minimum:         A Bachelor's degree.

 

Preferred:         A Bachelor's degree.

 

Specifically, the position requires a degree in education, psychology, sociology, business, or related degree.

 

MINIMUM AND PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

 

Minimum:         One to two years.

 

Preferred:         Three to four years.

 

Specifically, the position requires a minimum of one year of experience in events planning, student activities, student affairs, or higher education.
