PURPOSE:
Developing programs and processes that provide a service to students and/or other internal College or District customers.
ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT
Advisory Services or Work Leadership. The employee provides direct services to customers or collaborates with other professionals by one or more of the following: - Personally assessing situations, obtaining necessary information, drawing conclusions and recommending and/or implementing courses of action in accord with normal practices and procedures. - Advising or training other professionals. - Helping organize the activities and output of fellow workers on a day-to-day basis as a working supervisor or work leader.
DUTIES:*
1. Assist the Coordinator in planning, implementing, and evaluating the early care and education program on a daily and on-going basis to ensure that educational standards meet or exceed NAEYC policies and criteria.
a. develop/use quality systems to assess staff problems as a basis for on-going supervision of all center employees.
b. assist in continuous program improvement through monitoring, assessment, and managing change.
c. use NAEYC, other regulatory agencies’ requirements, and the college department’s goals to ensure compliance with all quality standards.
d. may be required to work as an Early Childhood Teacher or Coordinator to cover leave/meetings or other needs of the program.
e. assist with staffing patterns and obtaining substitutes as needed.
f. coach/mentor teachers and staff.
2. Supervise the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) including training center employees on CACFP requirements.
a. provide supervision to support staff and cooks to include their preparation of attendance forms, monthly reports, menus, food documentation, and food purchasing.
b. organize the monitoring visits.
c. coordinate the annual renewal of contracts.
d. coordinate training for cooks and other staff.
e. attend annual required CACFP training.
3. Oversee the safety and maintenance of the building and grounds.
4. Maintain children’s records to comply with TDFPS and NAEYC rules and criteria.
5. Oversee billing and collection of tuition/fee receipts.
6. Participate in research/training staff concerned with teaching strategies, child outcomes, family-related goals, or other identified areas of need.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Knowledge in the principles of organizational management; dispositions and learning styles; legal and fiscal management; educational programming (curriculum and assessment); the application of theories and principles of child development and early childhood education; NAEYC criteria for accreditation; and local, state, and federal regulatory laws pertaining to child care centers.
Advanced skills in planning and evaluation; training skills; excellent written/oral communication; computer usage; advanced problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Ability to adapt to change; evaluate ethical/moral dilemmas based on the NAEYC professional Code of Ethical Behavior; manage multiple complex duties at an advanced technical level to create effective operations on a daily basis.

MINIMUM AND PREFERRED EDUCATION
Minimum: A Bachelor's degree.
Preferred: A Bachelor's degree.
Specifically, the position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, or a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with a minimum of 36 semester hours in those areas.
MINIMUM AND PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Minimum: Three to four years.
Preferred: Three to four years.
Specifically, the position requires at least three years of experience in child development/early childhood education. Some supervisory and training experience required. Experience with the NAEYC accreditation criteria of early care and education program, the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), and higher education preferred.
