PURPOSE:

 

Performing administrative and supervisory work managing the development and completion/implementation of a quality business solution for the college system in an enterprise-level business domain.

 

 

ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT

 

Advisory Services or Work Leadership.  The employee provides direct services to customers or collaborates with other professionals by one or more of the following: - Personally assessing situations, obtaining necessary information, drawing conclusions and recommending and/or implementing courses of action in accord with normal practices and procedures. - Advising or training other professionals. - Helping organize the activities and output of fellow workers on

a day-to-day basis as a working supervisor or work leader.

 

DUTIES:*

 

1.                  Lead project planning efforts; developing and utilizing detailed professional project management constructs and methodologies to meet the goals of the endeavor and ensure project success.

 

2.                  Manage enterprise wide projects ensuring all project needs and requirements are addressed and completed within established project constraints.

 

3.                  Obtain commitments to the requirements from all project Stakeholders and manage expectations throughout the project life cycle

 

4.                  Manage ongoing client/customer satisfaction and peer-level relationships.

 

5.                  Identify and manage the critical path to ensure that committed milestones are achieved.  Reassess project timelines, resource allocation and deliverables if critical path is at risk or compromised.

 

6.                  Develop, maintain and utilize Banner Project Charter, project risk assessment and mitigation, communication, change management and issue management and quality plans.

 

 

7.                  Work with project team, District, and Colleges to analyze project problems and system issues, develop and make recommendations for solutions, provide regular updates and escalate project issues to Banner Stakeholders, District Director Banner Projects and Executive Steering Committees.

 

8.                  Manage Banner project vendors, consultants, external support contracts and resources.

 

9.                  Monitor and review the design process, implementation, testing progress and project deliverables;  ensure that associated project plans are documented and on target.

 

10.              Refine project tools/templates to support development of quality project deliverables and mentor project team members accordingly on standard project management methodologies.

 

11.              Resolve conflicts between individual needs and requirements of the Banner project.  Maintain a project issues log, documenting and tracking issues as they arise; escalate issues to District Director, project Stakeholders and senior management as required.

 

12.              Generate project progress reports and make presentations to District Director, project Stakeholders, sponsors and senior management as required.

 

13.              Manage and guide project team members including technical, functional and business area staff assigned to achieve success with the project.  

 

14.              Prepare and execute Banner project Training plan for functional and technical team members.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

 

Solid understanding of Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) discipline (Scope, Time, Cost, Quality, Human Resources, Communications, Risk Management, Change Management, and Procurement).

 

Experience in ERP systems (i.e. SCT Banner, SAP, and PeopleSoft)

 

Strong project management skills, including capacity for planning, executing and managing large, complex technology project involving multiple stakeholders and enterprise wide systems.

 

Experienced presentation and executive level interaction skills.

 

Ability to adapt to change while simultaneously maintaining focus on objectives and envisioning the bigger picture.

 

Excellent leadership skills and decision making ability; Value and appreciation for good customer service and superb customer relationship skills.

Strong problem solving, analytical, planning and organizational skills.

 

Technical and functional understanding of Banner application software and ERP systems.

 

Extensive experience with I/T development, programming, software testing and maintenance support of application software.

 

Understanding of business process mapping and analysis, data modeling, database concepts, and workflow.

 

Financial management and budget experience of large I/T projects.

 

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

 

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

Valid Class “C” Texas Driver’s License

MINIMUM AND PREFERRED EDUCATION

 

Minimum:        A Bachelor's degree

 

Preferred:        A Master's degree in Business Administration

 

Specifically, the position requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematical Sciences, or similarly related area.

 

 

MINIMUM AND PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

 

Minimum:        Five to eight years project management experience including large enterprise resource planning (ERP) system implementations

 

Preferred:        Ten years project management experience including large enterprise resource planning (ERP) system implementations

 

Specifically, the position requires eight years of project management experience to include five years leading ERP implementations.
