DESCRIPTION OF WORK
General Statement of Duties: Performs work of unusual difficulty in planning, developing, and implementing college transfer programs in academic areas.
Supervision received: Administrative direction.
Supervision Exercised: Upper level manager
Responsible to: Executive Vice President (SAC), Vice President of Academic Affairs (SPC), Executive Vice President (PAC)
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES*
Assist in developing curricula and budgets for college transfer programs.
Act as ombudsman for faculty and students in the area of Arts and Sciences.
Assist in formulating and maintaining the academic standards for college transfer programs.
Assist in development of class schedules and teaching and space assignments for maximum effectiveness.
Supervise, coordinate, and evaluate instructional programs.
Serve on committees and councils at the District or college level.
Implement and monitor the rules and regulations of the District, the college, and official agencies as appropriate.
Assist with implementing college appeals and grievance procedures in the Arts and Sciences areas.
Work with department chairpersons to achieve effective, current, and professional classroom instruction.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated knowledge of and success in college administration.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement policies and procedures.
Experience with planning and budgeting in an academic environment.
Knowledge of program and curriculum development and innovative teaching methods in the Arts and Sciences.
Ability to maintain positive and effective working relationships with District employees, faculty, students, and the public.
Ability to organize and direct major work operations.
EDUCATION
Master's degree in a job-related area is required. Doctorate in a job-related area strongly preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Substantial experience in college teaching, instructional administration and program planning and development with a record of increasingly broad responsibilities.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Regular and recurring work is performed in a work environment that involves
normal everyday low risks or discomforts typical of offices. Work
areas are adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
