DESCRIPTION OF WORK
General Statement of Duties: Performs work of unusual difficulty by providing direction for planning, developing, and administering programs which deliver continuing professional education, workforce training, basic skills instruction, and which respond to the non-traditional educational needs of the community.
Supervision received: General direction
Supervision exercised: Upper-level manager
Responsible to: Executive Vice President
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Supervises assigned support staff providing direction and leadership.
Reviews and approves expenditures. Maintain direct supervision of the budgetary process for the Continuing Education Division.
Supervises the College’s Adult Vocational, GED, ESL, community & youth, and Workplace Literacy Programs.
Directs departmental program planning, promotion, and supervision of instructional staff.
Supervises preparation of special Coordinating Board and other federal reports.
Maintains liaison with the various academic departments, campus programs, the Coordinating Board, and other government entities.
Oversees research and development activities in an effort to expand and improve the College’s response to community needs for adult vocational education.
Coordinates College-wide activities associated with international programs, workforce programs and other related initiatives.
Represents the College in economic development efforts being pursued in the local community.
Executes administrative procedures related to personnel, staffing, planning, budgeting, program management, and inventorying as delegated by the Executive Vice President.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSAs):
Demonstrated knowledge of and success in college administration.
Mastery of the principles and practices of developing Continuing Education programs.
Demonstrated knowledge of planning, monitoring, accounting, and budgeting in an academic environment.
Considerable knowledge of the
Highly developed ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with District employees, students, and the public.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to organize and direct major work operations and work under pressure of short deadlines.
EDUCATION:
Master’s degree in Education, Business, Public Administration or a related area is required. Doctorate is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Substantial experience in post-secondary teaching, training, college administration, and program planning and development with a record of increasingly broad responsibilities.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Regular and recurring work is performed in a work environment that involves normal everyday low risks or discomforts typical of offices. Work areas area adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
