TITLE: DEAN OF CORPORATE AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
General Statement of Duties: Serves as the leader and supervisor of professional staff, faculty, and support staff in the Corporate and Community Development Unit. Responsibilities include the delivery and facilitation of continuing education, contract, training, skills grants, occupational assessments, traditional and web-based learning programs and welfare-to-work initiatives. Serves as a member of the President’s leadership team and participates in strategic and organizational planning. Responsible with the Vice President for linking services of Corporate and Community Development with credit instructional units of the College where appropriate.
Supervision received: Administrative direction
Supervision exercised: Upper level manager

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES*
Designs, implements, supervises, and evaluates all aspects of Corporate and Community Development in compliance with federal, state, and Southern Association of Colleges & Schools (SACS) regulations. These areas include continuing education, contract training, skills grants, occupational assessments, traditional and web-based learning programs, and welfare-to-work initiatives.
Leads the planning, budgeting, and budget management and evaluation for Corporate and Community Development.
Hires faculty and renews faculty credentials to ensure compliance with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
Ensures strong partnerships with local business and industry by overseeing contract training initiatives to include design and execution of contracts, design of tailored training initiatives, and development of measures of effectiveness.
Works, in conjunction with the ACCD office of Workforce Development, to facilitate skills grants and associated training for local business and industry.
Produces and distributes the Continuing Education schedule for fall, spring, and summer semesters.
Develops community initiatives such as programs for youth, programs for senior citizens, dance academy, and community service projects.
Creates a culture of service to students, faculty, staff, prospective students, industry representatives, and community members.
Empowers employees and creates an atmosphere that is open to creative ideas for action and improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
A broad knowledge of workforce development functions.
Knowledge of Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board rules (GIPWE and WECM).
General understanding of registration processes.
Knowledge of workforce assessment requirements.
Knowledge of the execution of training contracts.
Demonstrated success working as a team member, in consensus building, and in integrated work groups.
Effective managerial skills pertaining to personnel, budgets, and projects.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills to include the ability to understand and cause understanding, motivate, develop, and persuade others.
Ability to develop, implement, supervise, and evaluate a broad range of student services within a student-centered environment.
Commitment to a “one-stop” student service atmosphere.
Initiative, innovation, self-motivation, and a focus of quality and continuous improvement.
Familiarity with or ability to master a computerized student information system.
EDUCATION
Master’s degree in a job-related area is required.
EXPERIENCE
Five years of progressive experience in similar positions to include previous supervisory responsibilities. Experience in a community college is highly desirable. Teaching/training experience desirable.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT
Regular and recurring work is performed in a work environment that involves normal everyday low risks or discomforts typical of offices. Work areas are adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
