OPERATING TITLE:  DEAN OF INSTITUTIONAL ADVANCEMENT, EFFECTIVENESS & COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

 

General Statement of Duties:  Leads and supports multiple Division foci including adult education, college/high school dual-credit courses, community outreach, distance education, student and community recruitment, institutional research and effectiveness, planning, and resource development.  Works with the community, District, and College personnel to support and expand these foci.

 

Supervision received:  General Direction

 

Supervision exercised:  Upper level manager

 

RESPONSIBLE TO:  College President

 

 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES*

 

Select, supervise, and support the division departments including adult education; college/high school dual-credit courses; community outreach; community and student recruitment; distance education; institutional research, planning, and effectiveness; and resource development.

 

Manage the budget(s) of the division to include procuring additional resources.

 

Communicate/collaborate with all district/college personnel to ensure efficient operation of division programs.

 

Facilitate/lead/support collaborative partnerships between the college and external service-area entities to increase student enrollment.  These entities include churches, community-based organizations, civilian/military installations, schools, and local/state/federal governments.

 

Implement the college’s Student and Community Outreach Plan.  Lead, direct, and develop specific community outreach initiatives.

 

Develop and implement strategic unit plans and manage budgets and personnel to accomplish annual/long-term institutional goals.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT:

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

Knowledge of human/personal development practices.

 

Knowledge of the educational, social, and economic needs of the population of the service area.

 

Skills in interpersonal relations and diplomacy to influence others.

 

Critical thinking, creativity, extensive organizational, oral and written communication, and presentation skills.

 

Skills in supervision of professional and classified employees.

 

Advanced computer skills in word processing, desktop publishing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.

 

Skills in collaborating with multiple constituencies (administrators, faculty, staff, community representatives, residents) and working in a team environment.

 

Must be a self-starter with a high level of self-initiative.  Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and take projects from inception to completion.

 

EDUCATION:

 

A Master’s degree in Education, Educational Administration, Management, or a closely related field.

 

EXPERIENCE:

 

A minimum of three (3) years of administrative, supervisory, or coordinative level experience in connection with support services programs, preferably in a college setting.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
