TITLE: dean of Instructional and
Extended Services
Class Code: 4384
DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
The Dean for Instructional and Extended Services will
direct, lead and organize faculty and staff in the instructional support and
college extended services (weekend, evening and off-campus classes) areas. The incumbent will serve as a member of the
academic and college leadership teams and participate in academic governance,
improvement, planning and budgeting processes.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:*
Interpret and implement academic standards and policies and
communicate them to faculty members, students, and the general public
Act as ombudsman in resolution of problems and conflicts
involving faculty, administrators, and students during the evening and weekend.
Coordinate with the Chairs and VP the employment and payroll
processes for adjunct faculty.
Coordinate class schedules, including faculty loads and
class closures for off-campus sites.
Recommend, develop, and administer budget for operation of instructional
support for adjuncts, off-campus services, and courtesy patrol to insure
operation within fiscal constraints.
Coordinate instructional facilities assignments to maximize
classroom and lab utilization.
Coordinate registration, publicity and promotion for
off-campus classes and programs.
Collaborate with VP and Chairs the off-campus, evening and
weekend instruction.
Maintain and information center for teaching and learning.
Ensure a safe and secure campus environment.
Provide a college point of contact for inquires made outside
normal business hours.
Supply rapid response technical support for classroom
instructional equipment.
Promote collaborative teaching learning.
Hire, supervise, and evaluate staff assigned.
Represent the College to the community to assess the need
for off-campus classes and programs.
Act as ombudsman in resolution of student academic
grievances.

QUALIFICATION FOR APPOINTMENT
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
Demonstrated knowledge of and success in college
administration.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement policies and
procedures.
Experience with planning and budgeting in an academic
environment.
Ability to maintain positive and effective working
relationships with District employees, faculty, students, and the public.
Ability to organize and direct major work operations and
work under pressure of deadlines.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in
writing.
EDUCATION
Master's degree in related discipline is required.
EXPERIENCE
A minimum of five years of administrative, supervisory, or
other leadership experience, preferably in a higher education setting is
required. Community college experience
is highly desirable. Teaching and/or
training experience desirable.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Regular and recurring work is performed in a work
environment that involves normal everyday low risks or discomforts typical of
offices. Work areas are adequately
lighted, heated, and ventilated.
