TITLE: DEAN OF p-16 INitiatives
CLASS CODE: 4386
Description of Work:
Coordinates and directs P-16 initiatives that are consistent with the objectives of the College, the District and the needs of the community.
Supervision received: Administrative direction from the President of the College (subject to review).
Supervision Exercised: Manages the employees accountable in the areas included in the P-16, Gateway Program , and other related programs as developed
Examples of Duties:*
Directs the Gateway to College Program
Provides the National Network data for the program
Works with partner school districts
Responds to TEA and THEB request
Directs the SAISD/SAC Early College High School
Works with curriculum alignment
Assists with the summer bridge programs for high school students in the subject areas of math, science, and English Language Arts to be delivered at the college
Researches and develops grant opportunities for early college high school programs in collaboration with the college grant writer
Develops strategies to provide post-secondary learning opportunities for every students graduating from a targeted high school
Researches opportunities for an increase in distance learning offerings and eliminating institutional and communication barriers to dual credit attainment
Develops and implements strategies to inform the public and the educational community about college readiness standards and the implications.
Develops college readiness programs for high school students
With the Dean of Evening, Weekend and Distance Education evaluate and improve all dual credit administrative processes
Develops a coordinated outreach strategies for fostering a college going culture in targeted areas
Develops plans to address high school students who have failed to pass TAKS
Develops early college partnerships between public, charter and private schools
Works with the District on the Pathways Program

QualificationS for Appointment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
Demonstrated knowledge of Texas high school curriculum requirements as defined by TEKS
Knowledge of Texas legislative processes as they pertain to schools
Knowledge of and experience with early college high school/drop out recovery programs
Knowledge of high school administrative procedures as required by the Texas Education Agency
Knowledge of the implementation of technology in the learning process
Ability to effectively organize education theories and practices
Ability to manage people and programs; prioritizing and delegating essential work
Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
Ability to collaborate with diverse individuals and groups
Ability to market San Antonio College and college policies; making presentations as necessary
Education
Master’s Degree in a related area
Experience
A minimum of five (5) years experience in K-12 education along a minimum of three (3) years experience with curriculum correlation
Physical Requirements
Regular recurring work is performed in a work environment that involves normal everyday low risks or discomforts typical of offices. Work areas are adequately lighted, heated and ventilated.
