PRIMARY IMPACT:
Provides analytic/diagnostic services or uses highest level technical skills which noticeably affect work results.
DUTIES:*
1. Produce/maintain introductory materials for international student applicants; reply to inquiries from international student applicants regarding admission requirements.
2. Assist the Director in interviewing international student applicants; provide academic advising to enrolled international students; ensure all required documents for their admission have been completed and submitted before issuing INS Form I-20; process I-20 forms; establish/maintain folders for all international F-1 students and verify the accuracy of information; maintain confidentiality.
3. Document residence status of new/transfer non-resident international F-1 visa students; compile report for Office of Immigration and Naturalization Service.
4. Schedule and attend meetings with the International Student Advisor and international students to review the students’ academic progress and determine eligibility for continued enrollment; monitor students to ensure they remain enrollment eligible.
5. Advise students concerning course work and degree plans; evaluate students’ high school and college transcripts; determine remedial needs of students and place them in appropriate developmental courses; verify when students have completed required remedial courses and determine if they have finished prerequisite courses.
6. Interpret TASP, ACCUPLACER, ASSET, ACT/SAT, etc., test results; maintain security and confidentiality of test results; register students for appropriate classes upon completion of developmental courses; enter student test scores, etc., into the Student Information System; place holds as needed; work with students and counselors at off-campus sites to resolve holds.
7. Collect, verify, and input all registration data including transcripts
and course registrations.
8. Advise/authorize students to take the Alternative TASP test or the ACCUPLACER/ASSET tests; interpret TASP legislation for students; advise first-time-in-college students regarding TASP and their responsibilities; document official TASP status of students and their respective scores.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Knowledge of ACCD degrees and certificates, current TASP legislation; graduation requirements; computerized student information system; and word processing. Familiarity with Immigration & Naturalization Service (INS) regulations pertaining to F-1 students.
Skills in interpretation of assessment scores; transcript evaluation; developing good working relationships with other departments and outside agencies; working well within a team.
Ability to prepare/present programs to groups from various backgrounds and one-on-one settings; work independently and solve problems effectively; concentrate on detailed projects with numerous interruptions; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; understand detailed written/oral instructions; follow established procedures; effectively serve students from different nationalities and ethnic groups.

MINIMUM AND PREFERRED EDUCATION
Minimum: An Associate's degree or equivalent.
Preferred: A Bachelor's degree.
MINIMUM AND PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Minimum: Three to four years.
Preferred: Five to eight years.
Specifically, the position requires three years of related experience,
preferably in a higher education setting.
