PRIMARY IMPACT:

 

Provides standard administrative, technical, or production services or information that support others, and/or organizes data and information that is used and analyzed by others.

 

DUTIES:*

 

1.         Provide support/patron services within a unit of Library and Media Services.

 

2.         Use the automated circulation system to check the circulation status of materials, check in/out materials.

 

3.         Use classification systems to locate, retrieve, and shelve library and media items.

 

4.         Operate and demonstrate use of equipment/software.

 

5.         Assist in the acquisition and processing of library and media items for use by patrons.

 

6.         Deliver, set up, take down, return, and store media equipment and items.

 

7.         Design and produce basic media projects using media equipment, software, and materials.

 

8.         Open and close a unit of the Library and Media Services.

 

9.         Photocopy, collate, and staple correspondence, reports, articles, etc., and organize for distribution.

 

10.       Maintain neatness and cleanliness of area.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

 

Excellent customer service and verbal communication skills; accurate and attentive to details; able to stand and walk for extended periods of time; lift/carry stacks of books, periodicals, etc.; push/pull book/equipment carts weighing up to 100 lbs.

Preferred:         A formal training program after high school of approximately one year in duration.

 

MINIMUM AND PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

 

Minimum:         No experience required.

 

Preferred:         One to three months.
