PRIMARY IMPACT:

 

Completes assigned tasks as requested.

 

DUTIES:*

 

1.         Proctor/monitor exams in dSS or in the classroom; read or write exams for students with disabilities.

 

2.         Assist students with disabilities who are blind, visually impaired, or wheelchair-bound as well as individuals who have physical limitations due to accidents, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, post polio, spina bifida, cancer, epilepsy, heart disease, obesity, pregnancy, etc.

 

3.         Answer phones, perform typing, filing, and data entry for Unit’s profile; return exams, pick up exams, etc.

 

4.         Provide one-on-one assistance to students in typing research papers, accessing the net, working on coursework, lab maintenance, etc.

 

5.         Assist students in filling out forms, paying bills, setting up files, etc.

 

6.         Read and record textbooks and other handouts that students with disabilities use in coursework.

 

7.         Assist in adapting classrooms with tables and chairs, software and hardware.

Must be very flexible in performing the tasks in short notice; willing to learn new skills needed to adapt the needs of students with disabilities; have positive attitude; ability to work with diverse population; good oral communication; sensitive to students’ needs.
