PRIMARY IMPACT:
Provides standard administrative, technical, or production services or information that support others, and/or organizes data and information that is used and analyzed by others.
DUTIES:*
1. Assist students with disabilities who are blind, visually impaired, or wheelchair-bound as well as individuals who have physical limitations due to accidents, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, post polio, spina bifida, cancer, epilepsy, heart disease, obesity, pregnancy, etc.
2. Provide support services to students with disabilities such as mobility assistance, test assistance, lab assistance, registration processing, etc.
3. Assist in adapting classrooms with tables and chairs, software and hardware.
4. Provide one-on-one assistance to students in typing research papers, accessing the net, working on coursework, lab maintenance, etc.
5. Assist students in filling out on-line FAFSA application, forms, paying bills, etc.
6. Resolve day-to-day technical computer system problems including installation of hardware and software, network connection, adaptability, and compatibility.
7. Assist in installing computers and peripherals including security cameras for the lab and testing areas and adaptive software to computers.
8. Assist in the preparation and maintenance of inventory of the equipment/devices/supplies to ensure that maintenance and repair of this equipment and devices are done without any delay.
9. Assist in providing orientation and training to students (group or one-to-one basis) regarding the use of computers, readers, printers, and adaptive software in the lab.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Minimum knowledge in the maintenance and repair of computer hardware and software; software applications (operating systems, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.).
Highly motivated, dependable, and willing to work patiently with students who have disabilities needing individualized orientation, training, and assistance; good oral communication skills.
Must be very flexible in performing the tasks in short notice; willing to learn new skills needed to adapt the needs of students with disabilities; have positive attitude; ability to work with diverse population; sensitive to students’ needs.

MINIMUM AND PREFERRED EDUCATION
Minimum: A formal training program after high school of approximately one year in duration.
Preferred: A formal training program after high school of approximately one year in duration.
Specifically, the position requires completion of college-level computer courses.
MINIMUM AND PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Minimum: Three to six months.
Preferred: Six months to one year.
Specifically, the position requires at least three months of experience in working with students with disabilities in an environment where their specialized needs are met through technological advancement. Prefer one year of experience in assistive technology.
