PRIMARY IMPACT:
Provides analytic/diagnostic services or uses highest level technical skills which noticeably affect work results.
DUTIES:*
1. Provide department and classroom support of computer systems, networks, servers, and assistive and instructional software.
2. Perform diagnostic/analytic services which impacts the course of action or decisions the unit makes in maintaining a computer lab.
3. Resolve technical computer system problems including installation of hardware/software, network connection, adaptability, and compatibility; install computers, peripherals, and adaptive software including security cameras for lab and testing areas.
4. Assist in the preparation and maintenance of inventory of the equipment/devices/supplies to ensure that maintenance/repair are done without delay.
5. Assist in providing computer training to faculty/staff/student employees regarding adaptive and application software.
6. Configure and upgrade adaptive hardware/software.
7. Assist in providing orientation and training to students regarding use of computers, readers, printers, and adaptive software in the lab.
8. Assist students with disabilities who are blind, visually impaired, or wheelchair-bound as well as individuals who have physical limitations due to accidents, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, post polio, spina bifida, cancer, epilepsy, heart disease, obesity, pregnancy, etc.
9. Proctor/monitor exams in dSS or in the classroom; read or write exams for students with disabilities.
10. Provide one-on-one assistance to students in typing research papers, accessing the net, working on coursework, lab maintenance, etc.
11. Assist students in filling out forms, paying bills, setting up files, etc.
12. Assist in adapting classrooms with tables and chairs, software and hardware.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Average knowledge in maintenance/repair of computer hardware/software; a variety of software applications (operating systems, word processing, spreadsheet, educational graphics, etc.); PCs; peripherals; mainframes; local area network administration; intranetwork and Internet protocols and standards.
Must be highly motivated, dependable, and willing to work patiently with students who have disabilities and need individualized orientation, training, and assistance; able to communicate technical information lay personnel.

Specifically, the position requires college-level computer coursework.
MINIMUM AND PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Minimum: Nine months.
Preferred: One to two years.
Specifically, the position requires at least nine months of experience working with students with disabilities in an environment where their specialized needs are met through technological advancement. Prefer two years of work experience in assistive technology.
