Benjamin Brawley edited The Best Stories of Paul Laurence Dunbar, Dodd, Mead, 1938; and The Paul Laurence Dunbar Reader was edited by Jay Martin and Gossie H. Hudson, Dodd, Mead, 1975. It contains some important essays by Dunbar originally written for periodicals.
