The SLAC offers a variety of services free of charge to currently enrolled students. Some of these services have been developed to help students who may not have the opportunity to come and visit the SLAC in person.
The SLAC tutoring program has received certification at Level II (Advanced) by the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) during the 2007-2008 academic year. Students are able to come to the SLAC for one-on-one tutoring with our tutors. Students need to be currently enrolled in the course for which they want help. You can view the list of subjects that our tutors are able to tutor by following the "Subjects Tutored" link to the left.
This service is provided using the virtual classrooms setup for the SLAC on the ACCD Meeting Place website. Students will be required to download and install the free Java Web Start plugin to their computer in order to use this service. Tutoring is available in any course for which we have an available tutor on our staff.
These self-help handouts were developed by various employees of the SLAC to help students in a variety of subject areas. Some of these areas include English/Writing, Math, Science, Computer Literacy, and Study Skills.
The course tutorials are an ongoing project here at the SLAC to provide students with help in different subject areas. Currently, the SLAC is working on the Math tutorials for College Algebra, Business Calculus, and Precalculus. Other tutorials scheduled to be added are Accounting, Biology, and Chemistry.
The SLAC lab will be providing proctored testing for the Internet based Mathematics courses beginning in the Spring 2006 semester. All testing by the SLAC will be performed in room MLC 726.
