"Extreme Planets" is presented at 7:45 p.m. on Friday, November 6th and 20th. "The Sky Tonight" is featured at 7:45 p.m. on Friday, November 13th. Also, the Scobee Planetarium will be closed November 26th through November 29th for the Thanksgiving holidays.

“SECRET OF THE CARDBOARD ROCKET”
Prepare for blast-off! “Secret of the Cardboard Rocket” is our children's show. Embark on a celestial adventure as two children spend a night touring the solar system inside their “cardboard spaceship” guided by their navigator – a talking astronomy book. Produced with state of the art animation, astronauts of all ages will enjoy this imaginary journey to the sun and each of the planets. Even recently reclassified Pluto is not forgotten in our journey. Ticket sales begin 20 minutes prior to show time. Parents please note, children under age 4 are not admitted.
Presented Friday, November 6th, and 20th at 7:45 PM
“EXTREME PLANETS”
Ever since the first humans looked towards the stars, we have wondered whether we are alone in the Universe. Today, we are one step closer to knowing the answer. With the discovery of the first planet orbiting another star in 1995, we now know that planets are not unique to our own Solar System. Over 350 planets have been discovered orbiting stars beyond the Sun. In fact, these "extra-solar" planets appear to be quite common. While no one has yet found an Earth-like world with conditions similar to ours, it now seems only a matter of time before this discovery takes place. In this new program entitled, “Extreme Planets,” we'll explore what makes a planet "Earth-like" and take a tour of several worlds that just might fit the conditions astronomers are looking for. From water worlds to molten landscapes, inhabitable moons to planets with multiple suns, these exotic worlds aren't just science fiction anymore. Embark upon a celestial quest in search for worlds orbiting other stars as we explore, “Extreme Planets!” Ticket sales begin 20 minutes prior to show time. Parents please note, children under age 6 are not admitted. Doors open 20 minutes prior to begin ticket sales and seating.
Presented on Friday,
November 13th at 7:45 PM
“THE SKY TONIGHT”
A Scobee Planetarium classic returns! Due to popular request, “THE SKY TONIGHT” returns to our program line-up and will be presented on selected Fridays throughout the fall. “THE SKY TONIGHT” takes the audience on a “live” tour of the wonders of the San Antonio night sky. This program highlights the Moon, the visible evening and morning planets, plus we’ll identify several of the brightest stars and constellations in the current night sky. Any special celestial events will also be highlighted. Parents please note, children under age 6 are not admitted. Doors open 20 minutes prior to begin ticket sales and seating.
Presented on Friday ,
November 6th, 13th, and 20th
at 9:00 PM
"BLACK HOLES"
Take a journey through one of the most mystifying, awe-inspiring phenomena in the universe: a black hole. Where do they come from? Where do they go? How do we find them? Could a black hole be looming in Earth's future? Come explore the science and mystery surrounding these cosmic monsters using the latest all-dome video technology. "BLACK HOLES” is narrated by actor John de Lancie, a.k.a. “Q” of Star Trek, the Next Generation. Please note, children under age 6 are not admitted. Doors open 20 minutes prior to begin ticket sales and seating.
THE OBSERVATORY TELESCOPE – On Friday evenings following the completion of our final planetarium presentation, the Observatory Telescope is opened for “free” views of the night sky, weather permitting. The Observatory opens at approximately 9:45pm following the completion of the final planetarium show. Note, the Observatory is open to the outside air and is neither air conditioned or heated.

DISCOVER DIGISTAR 3!
Imagine a planetarium theater where all the sights and sounds are created digitally. A theater where the dome is covered with breathtaking images and the audience is immersed in the images of outer space. “Digital theater” has arrived in San Antonio and is now available at the Scobee Planetarium!
Because the Scobee Planetarium is located on the crowded campus of San Antonio College, our public shows are only presented on Friday evenings when parking is available. Public shows are presented each Friday night with the exception of school or national holidays. Please note and comply with our age restrictions. BRINGING A GROUP?
"Friday Night" public shows are open to the general public on a "first come - first seated" basis. Our seating capacity is 80 to 85 people per show. While groups are welcome, if we are crowded and this is usually the case, it often proves very difficult to bring a large group (over 15) to our one of our Friday night performances. Instead, contact our planetarium secretary about booking a daytime school tour.
However, if you are considering bringing a group to one of our Friday night public shows (school class, scouts, astronomy class, etc.) - please note that reservations are not taken on Friday nights. It is strongly recommended that all members of your group be assembled at the entrance of the planetarium prior to the start of ticket sales. Sorry, one person may not buy tickets or "hold places" in line for group members yet to arrive. Also, please note that tickets are sold to people in order of arrival. It is rude to have late arriving members of a group "cut in line" or "cut in front of" other people in order to join members of their group or party. Thanks for your co-operation.
IN CASE YOU WERE WONDERING!
Because our facility is used for college, school, and public programs, the planetarium is not available to host birthday or private parties. The Planetarium is open Monday through Friday.
LOCATION
