DAVID MEYER Visual Arts Center. San Antonio College. 'Air into breath' 'Air into breath' is about transformation. This installation originates from my thoughts and ideas concerning how memories effect what we see. The distortion is not a visual aspect, but an aspect of comprehension. How we comprehend what we are seeing is based on what we have experienced or simply, what we see is what we know. The work will be created from over 300 parallel thin strips of vinyl equally spaced. Each strip is suspended end-to-end to an aluminum framework to form a series of inverted arches that will vary in length according to the surface area of an object creating a reverse topography. Because of the undefined nature of the imagery within the work, the subject matter can shift from one thought to another and only becomes real when we believe it, like seeing a ghost. |
