Visual Arts students were selected to present their research papers from art history and art appreciation classes from the past year.
A reception will follow the event.
In order of presentation, the students are:

Chantal Harrison,
who took art history online with Associate Professor Marleen Hoover in 2007, researched ancient Chinese bronzes, a topic made more alive by Harrison's visit to China at that time. Her presentation is titled "Ancient Chinese Bronzes: Shapes and Uses."

Kate Carey,
education staff person at the McNay Museum of Art. Carey studied art history with Associate Professor Debra Schafter and is already continuing her art history studies at UTSA. Her topic, based on an object at the McNay, is "St. George: A Medieval Superhero."

Annie Davis,
a junior at Texas A & M, took art history with Hoover last summer. With a professional interest in medical work, Davis explored the tradition of death portraits. The title of her presentation is
"Memento Mori: Remembering Life by Capturing Death."

Laura Rodriguez,
a second semester fine art major at San Antonio College, studied art history with Schafter, who helped her arrange an internship at ArtPace. The internship led to her research and presentation, "Interview with Matthew Buckingham, Contemporary Artist."
