The William Cullen Bryant Page

( 1794-1878 )
Major Works
Collections of Bryant's poems began to appear as early as 1821, and they continued to appear during the rest of his life, the last one in 1876. His critical reputation has, for the most part, fallen on evil days, as has that of his fellows among the 'Good gray poets' of 19th century New England. Probably as much as any beginning student of American Literature is likely to read has been collected in The Library of America volume, American Poetry: The Nineteenth Century, Volume I. Edited by John Hollander, 1993.
The Iliad of Homer, Translated into English Blank Verse ( 1870 ).
The Odyssey of Homer ( 1871-72 ). Translation.
Picturesque America ( 1872-74 ). A collection of engravings of American scenes with commentary.
The Family Library of Poetry and Song ( 1876). An anthology of poetry. Page Images
