Position Description:

This position, under the supervision of the Dean of Library Services, will provide reference and instruction to Northeast Lakeview College students, faculty, staff, and community members.  Persons in this position will need to be familiar with college and district policies as well as Library resources.  High standards of service and participation in library planning are expected.  Hours for this position will be flexible and meet the needs of staffing a busy reference desk and instruction schedule.  Evening and some weekend hours are a requirement.  Northeast Lakeview College is the newest college in the Alamo Colleges family.

Position Requirements (minimum): 

• Masters in Library/Information Sciences from an ALA accredited program
• One or more years professional experience in a library setting providing reference and instruction using print and online resources.
• Ability to demonstrate current knowledge of information literacy standards and instruction pedagogy.
• Ability to demonstrate current knowledge of electronic information services and resources
• Demonstrated excellence in oral, written, and instruction communication skills
• High public services commitment
• Desire and ability to work in a team environment and a willingness to be flexible with scheduling and other duties

 

Position Requirements (desired): 

• Direct experience supporting virtual and online reference
• Experience using various software applications in developing online materials and in delivering online instruction
• Experience with web-based applications and networked technologies as applied to library settings. 
• Experience in academic library settings

Hourly rate:  $30.70 hourly
