TITLE: DIRECTOR OF THEATER/FINE ARTS

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
General Statement of Duties: The Director of Theater/Fine Arts will supervise and coordinate all activities relating to the Fine Arts Program including both instructional and extra-curricular activities.
Supervision received: Administrative Direction
Supervision exercised: Mid-level manager
Responsible to: Dean of Arts and Sciences
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Work closely with faculty to promote high standards of excellence in all program activities.
Provide leadership and coordination in the development and implementation of the curriculum, including maintaining updated syllabi.
Ensure that departmental programs, goals, and objectives are consistent with the philosophy, mission, and goals of the College and the District.
Evaluate the effectiveness of the educational programs offered by the department and make recommendations.
Facilitate articulation of departmental courses and programs with secondary and post-secondary institutions.
Coordinate on-going activities crucial to the program, including recruitment.
Supervise and evaluate faculty and other program employees in order to promote maximum professional development and participation.
Coordinate planning and budgetary process for all units supervised.
Develop and implement long-range programs, plans, and policies including a determination of what services to provide to the community and the college.
Improve and maintain department's image and reputation.
Manage program facilities and equipment and coordinate activities with outside groups.
Perform additional job-related assignments and duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Considerable knowledge of college administration.
Considerable knowledge of educational program planning in relation to the fine arts.
Ability to exercise critical human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with fellow employees, students, and the public.
Ability to organize and direct major work operations and meet deadlines.
EDUCATION:
Master's degree in Fine Arts, Theater, or related field.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of three years of teaching experience in one of the fine or performing arts.
The Director of Theater/Fine Arts will be expected to develop programs
in the visual and performing arts reflecting the rich diversity of the
San Antonio community and the nation.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
No extraordinary physical requirements.
