PRIMARY IMPACT:

Provides standard administrative, technical, or production services or information that support others, and/or organizes data and information that is used and analyzed by others.

DUTIES:*

1. Plan, organize, assist, promote and set up school special events, festivals, and programs.

2. Design banners, posters, flyers for advertisement; create special backdrops for stage; and select themes for special events.

3. Assist in implementing policies regarding extracurricular activities.

4. Recruit, orient, train, and inform all student organizations and student staff.

5. Serve as advisor to Campus Activities Board and "Into the Streets."

6. Serve as chairperson of the President's Round Table meetings.

7. Supervise all Student Activities' student staff.  Train new office student assistants and delegate work flow and special assignments to all workers.

8. Maintain office calendar of events.  Schedule club/organization bake sales and meetings, entertainment acts, college representatives, vendors, etc.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Knowledge of contract terminology/rider implementation; District policies/procedures; general office practices; business English/grammar.

Basic computer and office machine skills; good oral and written communication skills; important human relations skills.

Must be able to perform physical activities such as walking, climbing, stretching, lifting, and carrying.

 JOB EMPOWERMENT

The employee follows existing procedures to which he/she can make some changes to solve problems.  Progress or results of work is periodically checked and prior approval is required before changing standard work procedures.

LEADERSHIP OF PEOPLE

Work flow management of a unit including training and contribution to performance appraisal (but not the full complement of management duties).

VERBAL COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Discussing unique or non-recurring issues with others which may involve converting specialized terms into everyday language to ensure understanding.

WRITTEN COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Composing letters, memos, or reports of a routine or recurring nature.

PROBLEM ANALYSIS

The employee typically has to deal with issues or problems that often require assessment and reasoning before coming up with an approach or solution.  The search for solutions may be accomplished quickly, but usually requires assessment and analysis of various alternatives based on standards or approaches defined by management or the appropriate professional/technical discipline.

MINIMUM AND PREFERRED EDUCATION

Minimum: An Associate's degree (two-year program or two to three years of college) or equivalent formal training.

Preferred: A Bachelor's degree.

MINIMUM AND PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

Minimum: One to two years.

Preferred: Three to four years.
