General Statement of Duties: Responsible for the overall operation of the campus, including academic and administrative functions. Administers credit and credit-free instructional programs consistent with the District vision and College mission. Coordinates student support services and planning with District and College personnel.
Supervision received: Administrative direction from the President.
Supervision exercised: Upper level manager, directly and indirectly supervising faculty, professionals, and classified staff.
Provides leadership for all aspects of the campus operations.
Develops new programs by coordinating advisory committees of industry representatives, determining new equipment requirements, and obtaining bids for purchase of equipment.

Assists program chairpersons in selecting instructors, advertising, and purchasing tools, equipment, and supplies.
Supervises operation, quality of instruction, and success of technical-industrial programs.
Authorizes requisitions for purchase of tools, equipment, and supplies utilizing knowledge of each functional area.
Directs curriculum development and program review processes for maintaining academic standards and continuous program improvement.
Coordinates all student and support services with District and College personnel. Coordinates with District facilities personnel for custodial services and maintenance support.
Reviews and evaluates syllabi, course outlines, and final and mid-term exams.
Evaluates and counsels department chairpersons.
Serves on task forces and committees, representing the College and the District.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned or needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of vocational, technical, industrial, or workforce education programs offered by community colleges.
Knowledge of computer utilization and technology impact on instructional programs and training.
Knowledge of current and emerging technical education program requirements.
Considerable knowledge of Coordinating Board guidelines on vocational programs.
Knowledge of and skills in budgeting, planning, monitoring, and accounting in an academic environment.
Ability to develop and implement policies and procedures; knowledge of college administration and campus operations.
Ability and skills to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
Ability to maintain positive and effective working relationships with District employees, students, and the public.
Ability to organize and direct major work operations.
Knowledge of
EDUCATION
Master’s degree in education or another job-related area required. Doctorate preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Substantial experience in college administration, program development, and teaching in vocational, technical, industrial, or workforce education at the college level with a record of increasingly broad responsibilities. Experience in or knowledge of the management and maintenance of facilities and equipment. Prefer a minimum of five years of experience at Dean or higher in a community college or university level institution.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Regular and recurring work is performed in a work environment that involves normal everyday low risks or discomforts typical of offices. Work areas are adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
