JOB DESCRIPTION

 

TITLE: VICE CHANCELLOR FOR PLANNING, PERFORMANCE, AND INFORMATION SYSTEMS

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:

 

General Statement of Duties: Serves as the Chief Information Officer of the district and provides the leadership in the development of a strategic planning process that leads to continuous improvement in information gathering, analysis, and reporting and interpretation of such information that leads to continuous improvement of the District’s research activities and all informational technologies to achieve the student success and related instructional activities, and administrative support functions of the Alamo Community Colleges.  Provides leadership in support of maintaining reliable, useful, and meaningful information that supports performance based measurements to meet the needs of both internal and external constituencies of the District.

 

Supervision exercised: District managers and directors in the areas of information technology, strategic planning, and institutional research.

 

Responsible to: Chancellor

 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

 

Manages Planning, Institutional Research, and Information Technology Service including information technology infrastructure and architecture, enterprise wide applications and implementations, database management, data center operations, software development, network services, information security, client support, applications support, telecommunications, and on-line learning.

 

Supports the Chancellor and the Board of Trustees in the development of strategic planning initiatives and evaluation processes consistent with the assessment of institutional effectiveness as to student success and internal administrative processes.

 

Improves performance through planning and administrative initiatives that assure effective use of information keyed to institutional priorities and objectives to promote a culture of evidence throughout the District.

 

Works with District and College councils and committees to promote collaborative policy review and recommendation; works with operating units to obtain continuous improvement of processes and services.

 

Ensures compliance with District policies and procedures as well as state and federal laws.

 

Effectively represents the Alamo Community Colleges.

 

Perform other duties as assigned by Chancellor.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT:

 

 

EDUCATION:

 

Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, information technology, or related field.

 

Preferred: Master’s degree

 

EXPERIENCE:

 

Minimum: 8 years of executive level leadership in the effective utilization of information technology.

 

PREFERRED:

 

Experience and understanding of the Baldrige Performance Model, strategic planning and institutional research. 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS:
