PRIMARY IMPACT:

Provides analytic/diagnostic services or uses highest level technical skills which noticeably affect work results.

DUTIES:*

1. Assist faculty and students in lab by demonstrating proper use of medical equipment, devices, and instruments.

2. Maintain all laboratory and office equipment.

3. Maintain and order adequate levels of expendable supplies and equipment; keep a current inventory.

4. Assist faculty through enforcing OSHA regulations and security policies; maintain a safe environment.

5. Assist faculty in production and reproduction of handouts, exams, and other materials.

6. Present lab material as needed in faculty's absence.

7. Assist with the coordination of Veterinary Technology Committee meetings.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Knowledge of principles/practices of Veterinary Technician medical equipment/instruments used in classes; installation and use of word processing/spreadsheet/medical computer applications.

Skills in computer word processing.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and to establish effective working relations with others.  Able to lift/carry 50 lbs.

 LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

Must be currently registered in the state of Texas as a Veterinary Technician.

MINIMUM AND PREFERRED EDUCATION

Minimum: An Associate's degree (two-year program or two to three years of college) or equivalent formal training.
 

Preferred: An Associate's degree (two-year program or two to three years of college) or equivalent formal training.

Specifically, the position requires an Associate's degree from an accredited Veterinary Technology program.

 MINIMUM AND PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

Minimum: One to two years.

Preferred: Three to four years.

Specifically, the position requires one year of work experience in a veterinary clinical setting.
