PRIMARY IMPACT:
Provides analytic/diagnostic services or uses highest level technical skills which noticeably affect work results.
DUTIES:*
1. Mark dictation segments for syllable counts requiring accuracy for dictation speeds from 60 to 250/300 wpm.
2. Practice dictation at varying speeds using a stopwatch and script and working with faculty to perform in a synchronized manner.
3. Study technical vocabulary for pronunciation and clarity of reading to permit reading a script while watching split seconds and avoiding hesitation.
4. Mock test dictation at varied speeds while working with a faculty member(s) who is reading another part to facilitate student test success in achieving 225 words per minute for state testing.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Skills in reading a stopwatch and dictating varied speeds for 1-, 2-, 3-, and 5-minute segments from 40 to 300 words per minute; eye-hand coordination; college-level reading/vocabulary; attention to detail.
Ability to count syllables and mark copy for dictation; properly pronounce technical medical, legal, and business terms; project voice and speak clearly and loudly to an audience; speak clearly; follow instructions; and be punctual.

MINIMUM AND PREFERRED EDUCATION
Minimum: A formal training program after high school of approximately one year in duration.
Preferred: An Associate's degree or equivalent.
Specifically, the position prefers training in English and speech.
MINIMUM AND PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Minimum: Three to six months.
Preferred: One to two years.
Specifically, the position requires some related work experience preferably in communication/public speaking or the performing arts.
