PURPOSE:

 

Developing programs and processes that provide a service to students and/or other internal College or District customers.

 

ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT

 

Advanced Support Services.  The employee provides direct services to customers or supports others with advanced support services by one or more of the following: - Carrying out investigations, analytic, or diagnostic services that support decision-making or action taken by management or professional staff. - Applying advanced vocational-technical skills to ensure that a function or unit achieves its goals.

 

DUTIES:*

 

1.         Assist the CFK Director with all phases of the day-to-day operations of the CFK program.

 

2.         Interface with registration desk staff.

 

3.         Manage the drop-off and pick-up of students to ensure the process is safe and orderly.

 

4.         Facilitate space/classroom assignments and program scheduling.

 

5.         Assist parents with registration and questions.

 

6.         Acquire materials for Instructors.

 

7.         Supervise work studies, teaching interns, and clerical staff.

 

8.         Assist students with special needs or ill students; monitor issues that deal with loss of students or student misbehavior.

 

9.         Interface with media and administration.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

 

Knowledge of curriculum-based instruction.

 

Specialized skills in child care/child supervision; skills in customer service to interface with parents; computer and clerical skills.

 

Ability to relate to a variety of clients; multi-task.

 

JOB EMPOWERMENT

 

The employee follows existing procedures to which he/she can make some changes to solve problems.  Progress or results of work is periodically checked and prior approval is required before changing standard work procedures.

 

MANAGEMENT OF PEOPLE

 

No direct supervision of others.

 

APPLICATION OF KNOWLEDGE

 

The employee completes a variety of duties that require some planning and organizing for efficient completion.  This level must know and follow a number of standard procedures.  It typically requires high school education, or equivalent, and six months to two years of experience.

 

PROBLEM ANALYSIS

 

The employee deals with problems or situations requiring thought and making choices.  However, after awhile, the answers tend to follow a pattern.

 

STUDENT/COMMUNITY INTERACTION

 

The employee often deals with students or members of the community.  The employee must have skill to understand and influence others.

 

CONSTITUENT RELATIONSHIPS

 

The employee must frequently seek cooperation from, persuade, or influence others.  The employee must develop relationships and persuade others to resolve problems, change people's minds, or directly produce customer satisfaction.  This level usually includes jobs which assign and review work of other employees.  The employee, however, does not have accountability for formal management of others.

 

 

 

MINIMUM AND PREFERRED EDUCATION

 

Minimum:         An Associate's degree or equivalent

 

Preferred:         A Bachelor's degree

 

Specifically, an Associate’s degree is required, preferably in an area directly related to child development.  Full-time experience directly related to the duties and level of responsibilities specified may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis up to two years.  A Bachelor’s degree and Child Development Associate (CDA) certification preferred.

 

MINIMUM AND PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

 

Minimum:         Five to eight years

 

Preferred:         Five to eight years

 

Specifically, the position requires five years of caring for children in grade school through middle school.  A Bachelor’s degree in a related field may substitute for two years of experience.
