Minutes of May 7, 2007 Meeting, San Antonio
College
On
a motion by Committee Member Romero, seconded
by Committee Member Martinez and by unanimous
vote of the Committee Members, the April 9,
2007 minutes were approved as presented.
Chairwoman
Ray congratulated Dr. Zeigler, SAC President,
on the rapid construction progress due to Capital
Improvement Program (CIP) Bond. In addition,
Dr. Adena Loston, SPC President, represented
by Julius Gordon, was recognized on the SPC
groundbreaking success.

Overview of CIP Projects
John
W. Strybos expressed his appreciation to the
CIP Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee
members for their devoted participation in the
ground breaking ceremonies, most importantly,
for their considerate commitment and contribution
to ACCD.
Mitch
Wilson, CIP Project Manager, was introduced
as the latest addition to the ACCD Facilities
Department; Mitch encompasses superior industrial
experience that is essential to the Facilities
Department.
John
W. Strybos summarized the monthly report of
the Alamo Community Colleges Capital Improvement
Program which included information such as the
similar monthly financial reports. One relevant
item pointed out by Mr. Strybos, ACCD sold $339,000,000
out of the $450,000,000 in bonds at a significantly
lower interest rate of an approximate average
of 4.5 percent (4%), a considerable savings
to the tax payers versus the six percent (6%)
planned interest rate.

San Antonio College Overview and CIP Projects
Dr.
Zeigler made the San Antonio College (SAC) PowerPoint
presentation.
5. SMWBE Report
•
John W. Strybos provided a detailed account,
to the Committee, on the SWMBE 2007 Goal Projections.
•
Committee Members raised questions and added
comments regarding the SMWBE Coordinator job
description (SMWBE Diversity Administrator).
•
John Longoria will prepare a draft SMWBE policy
for Alamo Community College District (ACCD).
•
Bennie Cole will prepare a draft of the SMWBE
Diversity Administrator position duties
