| The
Fiscal area is responsible for handling all financial transactions within the
Alamo Community College District. The area of Fiscal Affairs, through its departments,
motivates, develops, empowers and rewards staff to achieve the District's mission
and to improve continuously its effectiveness in the following: processing financial
transactions in a timely manner; providing accounting, financial management reporting
and financial system training; investing the district's long and short-term cash
reserves to maximize return and minimize risk; | working
with external auditors to ascertain that public funding is being obtained in accordance
with state, federal and local regulations; working with external financial institutions
in the management of fiscal resources; implementing systems of internal controls
to safeguard the assets of the district; and through periodic reporting, keeping
the Board of Trustees and its various committees informed of the financial condition
of the district to assist them in performing their fiduciary duties as dictated
by the District's policy. |
