District Print Services has the ability to take your project from beginning to end. Finishing services include sorting, collating and bindery.

We can sort and collate your documents quickly. Our copiers will automatically sort and collate while your job is being copied. Also, if you have stacks of papers that you don't want to collate by hand, simply bring them to Print Services, and our staff and equipment will do the rest.

There are a variety of bindery options available to you including saddle-stitching, corner stapling, GBC® (comb) binding, coil binding, Velo® binding, tape binding and padding. If you have any questions regarding any of these types of bindery, Print Services personnel will be happy to help you decide which bindery type will best suit your project. Which ever option you choose, your project will have that professional appearance you desire. Consult the chart on the locations page for the bindery options at each location, or call your Copy Center supervisor for assistance.

TERMS TO KNOW FOR BINDING AND FINISHING

When your documents are printed and ready to be bound, know what to ask for:

  • SADDLE STITCHING is the fastening of pages in a document, such as a booklet, by stapling it through the centerfold of the sheets.
  • GBC® BINDING, also known as comb binding is done by drilling the left side of a document to accommodate a light weight plastic comb. Combs are available in a variety of colors and sizes.
  • COIL BINDING is done by drilling the left side of a document to allow a plastic spiral coil to be inserted, enabling the document to lie flat even when folded over. Several colors and size coils are available
  • VELO® BINDING fastens the left edge of a drilled document with flat plastic rods along the top and bottom, leaving the edge exposed. this results in a book-like bind.
  • PADDING is the process of applying special glue to one side of a stack of pages. This allows each page to be removed one at a time.
