The ACCD Print Services' Copy Centers, which are located at SAC, SPC, PAC and SWC were established to provide high-volume, high-quality copying at prices competitive with commercial "quick copy" firms.

A variety of white and colored bond and index paper is kept in stock for your use. Specialty papers (glossy, parchment, royal fiber, etc.) may also be available. Call your Copy Center supervisor to verify available stock. If special paper stock is required for a job, Print Services will order the special paper for you.

Advances in copier technology allow projects that once required offset printing to be completed on copiers. Some new copiers can fold and bind as well as copy, producing a finished product in a matter of seconds. A full-color, photo-quality copier is available at the District Print Shop. The Print Services staff will be happy to assist you in choosing the best method for completing your job.

TIPS FOR PRODUCING GOOD COPIES

The biggest step toward quality copies is planning:

• Originals should be on standard weight white bond paper when possible. Originals on different types of paper stock may jam the copier. Also, originals on different colors of paper will not copy as well, if at all.
• All text and line art on the originals should be in dark, black ink for the best reproduction. Photos can be reproduced on copy equipment, but note that gray tones may tend to become spotty or black.
• Computer-generated background screens do not reproduce well on copiers. They tend to appear "muddy" and may disappear in some areas.
• "Clean" originals will produce the best copies. Both purple and yellow highlighting will usually reproduce as black. Tape will often show edges or the tape itself.
• College stationary may be used in the copier instead of regular bond paper stock. Format your original to leave room for the preprinted letterhead. Then ask the Copy Center staff to help you load the copier.
