Eligibility
Tier I Eligibility Requirements

Enrolled and attending a college of the Alamo Community Colleges with a minimum of 6 semester hours for each semester during the academic year.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale. If a first time in college student (FTIC), must have earned a minimum 2.5 high school GPA
- If chosen, must maintain a minimum semester GPA of 2.75 or higher during the program
- Remain in good disciplinary standing with the college system
- Submit a completed application package; incomplete applications may result in disqualification
- Must be able to commit to a yearlong program, all activities, and established guidelines required for completion
- If deemed necessary, applicant must be available for possible interview
Selection Criteria and Instructions

Transcript(s):
Transcripts to date showing current course enrollment, issued by high school (FTIC) or college with cumulative GPA and course work to date (Photocopies are acceptable for ACCD transcripts)
Recommendation:
Please include two signed recommendation forms from faculty, employers, or community leaders. One recommendation may be a personal recommendation (family members cannot complete recommendation forms).
Personal Statement:
Please include a typed 500-word minimum essay, titled "Personal Statement" (double-spaced, 12pt font, no cover sheet) addressing:
- Academic plan and career goals
- Why you are a good candidate for the SLI
- Your personal motivation to apply for the SLI
- What life experiences have brought you to where you are today
- How you will profit from the SLI and in what ways you will use the acquired skills
- What skills you would like to focus on if accepted as an SLI Scholar
