The Westside Education & Training Center, located in the heart of Edgewood Independent School District, was opened as an avenue for community residents to attain entry-level occupation skills or increase technical skills to connect to jobs or higher education opportunities. The City of San Antonio, Edgewood Independent School District, Alamo Colleges, and numerous community representatives are working together to bring this workforce specialty center to your community. This center provides:
- Short-term workforce training programs
- College core courses like science, math and humanities
- Associate’s degree courses that are transferable to four year colleges
- Pre-professional courses (such as health occupations, biosciences, information technology)
- ESL, GED and Bilingual education
- Technical skill assessment-technical, literacy
- College enrollment, assessment and financial aid information and processing
- Advising
- Career exploration
- Job search assistance
- Summer youth programs
