Network Projects
The following projects are currently being undertaken to upgrade and improve our network services. The network projects are managed by Mr. Arne Saustrup, Network Operations Manager, ACCD IT.

Network Operations Center
Some of our current data center infrastructure is constructed with equipment which is no longer manufactured or supported by our vendors. This project will make necessary upgrades to our physical infrastructure (power, emergency power, data wiring, cooling etc.) at current data center facility (811 W. Houston Street location).

Command and Control Center
Using CIP Bond funds, an Enterprise IT Command and Control Center will be planned and designed to integrate enterprise-wide IT Service Management and IT security management for the purpose of security, improving quality of service and enhancing operational efficiency.

Secure Wireless Net
The purpose of this project is to upgrade and expand our current wireless infrastructure and makes it secure that meets or exceeds the current and future demands. Around 400 Access points will be installed around the colleges by September 2006.

Redundant Internet
This project will replace our current single internet connection (155 Megabits per second capacity) to dual, high capacity connections (1,000 Megabits per second) installed by mid of Fall. The new connection will have integrated security and redundancy for enhanced stability and security.

Disaster Hot Site
One of the critical CIP Bond Projects is the establishment of a Disaster Hot Site at San Antonio College. The hot-site facility will have the same positive attributes as the current IT environment and can provide a place to host redundant servers and storage for the mission critical systems.
