Anna U. Bustamante

Anna Bustamante was born and raised in the South Bexar county community of Losoya. She graduated from Southside High School and attended San Antonio College. Bustamante later transferred to Texas A&I University (now known as Texas A&M-Kingsville) and received a bachelor's in Elementary Education with a Specialization in Elementary Music. She has been an educator for 25 years, beginning her teaching career as a Bilingual/ESL teacher. She now teaches elementary music at Freedom Elementary in the Southside Independent School District.

Bustamante is a life-long member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel (El Carmen) Catholic Church. She has been involved in music ministry there for 32 years as a choir director, guitarist, and vocalist, and currently serves as the president of the Guadalupana Society.

She is a member of Texas Music Educators Association, Central Texas Orff Association, National Education Association, Texas State Teachers Association and the Southside Education Association.

She and her husband, Alex, a proud Harlandale high school graduate, have been residents of ACCD District 3 for the past 15 years. Their son Alex attends Southside High School.
