ACCD Hurricane Katrina Relief Effort

 

ACCD Provides Educational Opportunities for Katrina Evacuees

The Alamo Community College District (ACCD) stands ready to assist college students who have been displaced by Hurricane Katrina.

The Alamo Community College District will:

  • Defer tuition and fees for any evacuees who wish to enroll and will help them in securing financial aid
  • Forego out of state tuition and charge in-state, in-district tuition
  • Testing costs will be deferred for those who were already enrolled in college, and fees for the Accuplacer test, which the colleges use to assess skill levels, will be deferred
  • Prepare and register students for the fall flex semester that starts in October
  • Evacuees who enroll will receive a 20% discount on textbooks at the college bookstores
  • In coordination with local manpower agencies, provide work force training programs
  • Make use of our video conferencing center, located next to facility housing evacuees at Kelly USA
  • Admit students immediately
  • Counsel students as needed

Help Defray Educational Expenses at the ACCD Colleges 

If ACCD employees or students wish to make financial donations to help defray educational expenses at the ACCD colleges for Katrina victims in San Antonio (books, tuition, fees, school supplies, etc.), they may forward a check payable to the ACCD Foundation.
