to Present 'Royal Hunt of the Sun'

The
St. Philip’s College Department of Fine Arts
will present a production of “The Royal Hunt
of the Sun” this fall and will hold auditions
for roles in the play Sept. 12 and 13, at 7 p.m. each
day, in room 103 of the Watson Fine Arts Center on
the main campus (1801 Martin Luther King Drive). The
auditions are to fill 18 male roles, ranging in age
from 16 to 60. Female actors however, are encouraged
to try out as well for character roles aged in their
twenties. All ethnicities are also encouraged to audition.
Sides will be provided and perusal scripts are available
by contacting theatre instructor and play director
Vincent Hardy at 531-4838.
“The
Royal Hunt of the Sun,” a Shakespearean style
production written by playwright Peter Schaffer in
1964, tells the story of the conquering of the Inca
Empire by Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro and
his 180 men. Performances are scheduled to run Nov.
4- 6 and 10-13.
St. Philip’s
College, one of the Alamo Community Colleges serving
the greater Bexar County region, is a comprehensive
community college designated as both a Historically
