Pamela E. Ray, program director and instructor of Early Childhood Studies at St. Philip’s College, has been selected to serve as a consulting editor by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) in Washington, D.C. As a consulting editor, Ray will serve a three-year term on a panel along with other national collegiate experts in the field of early care education. Her term begins Oct. 1, 2005.

“It truly is an honor and privilege to represent the St. Philip’s program, department and college community on a national platform such as this,” Ray said. “It’s also a tremendous opportunity to enhance my professional knowledge in the field.”

Among her responsibilities, Ray will review and write a critique of manuscripts for NAEYC’s journal, Young Children, books and other draft publications. According to NAEYC, the peer review system for manuscripts is a fundamental component of achieving and maintaining excellence in NAEYC publications, as well as stimulating the professional growth of authors.

Earlene Gonzales, President of the San Antonio Association for the Education of Young Children (SAAEYC) affiliate chapter said, “I know everyone will want to join me in applauding our new Board member, Pamela Ray, in her exciting new opportunity with NAEYC. It is wonderful news for Pam and for our affiliate chapter.”
