Instructor Pamela Ray Named Consulting Editor to National
Early Education Group

Pamela
E. Ray, program director and instructor of Early Childhood
Studies at St. Philip’s College, has been selected
to serve as a consulting editor by the National Association
for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) in Washington,
D.C. As a consulting editor, Ray will serve a three-year
term on a panel along with other national collegiate
experts in the field of early care education. Her
term begins Oct. 1, 2005.
“It
truly is an honor and privilege to represent the St.
Philip’s program, department and college community
on a national platform such as this,” Ray said.
“It’s also a tremendous opportunity to
enhance my professional knowledge in the field.”
Among
her responsibilities, Ray will review and write a
critique of manuscripts for NAEYC’s journal,
Young Children, books and other draft publications.
According to NAEYC, the peer review system for manuscripts
is a fundamental component of achieving and maintaining
excellence in NAEYC publications, as well as stimulating
the professional growth of authors.

Gonzales, President of the San Antonio Association
for the Education of Young Children (SAAEYC) affiliate
chapter said, “I know everyone will want to
join me in applauding our new Board member, Pamela
Ray, in her exciting new opportunity with NAEYC. It
is wonderful news for Pam and for our affiliate chapter.”
St.
Philip’s College, one of the Alamo Community
Colleges serving the greater Bexar County region,
is a comprehensive community college designated as
both a Historically Black College and a Hispanic Serving
Institution. St. Philip’s College is accredited
by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association
of Colleges and Schools.
