St.
Philip's College is offering a mini course on the
technology behind fuel cells, “Fuel Cells: A
Comprehensive Survey,” this fall to acquaint
individuals with the history and fundamentals of this
alternative energy source. The class will be offered
twice this semester as an introductory non-credit
course on fuel cell technology and its potential applications
as a source for fuel.
“With
fuel costs top of mind among consumers these days,
we think there’s a growing interest in information
about fuel cells, how they work, and their potential
as an alternative source for energy,” said Alvoid
Bennett, dean of Extended Services, Continuing Education,
Workforce Development and Evening/Weekend Operations.
“Fuel
Cells: A Comprehensive Survey” is designed for
anyone with an interest in fuel cells, environmental
issues, renewable energy, alternative energy sources,
and the implications of these changes on society.
The course has no prerequisites and will be offered
twice during the semester: September (20, 22, 27 and
29) and November (8, 10, 15 and 17). Classes will
meet for two hours, from 6 to 8 p.m., and will feature
lectures, audio-visual presentations and demonstrations.
Students will be awarded certificates of completion
upon completing the course. More information is available
on line at www.accd.edu/spc/ce
or by calling 210-531-4770.
