Allied Health Chair, Instructor Named to State Advisory

Rebecca
Sanchez, a registered medical technologist and chair
of the St. Philip’s College Allied Health Department,
has been selected to serve on the advisory committee
of the 2005-2006 Texas State Leadership Consortium
for Professional Development. In this role, Sanchez
will serve on a new committee that will meet quarterly
to advise the Texas Higher Education Coordinating
Board on policy, practices, and grant-funded projects
in the area of professional development of technical
educators at community colleges.
Sanchez,
who’s taught at St. Philip’s College for
23 years, also has 15 years of clinical experience
in microbiology. She has served as chair of the St.
Philip’s College Allied Health Department since
2000, overseeing the college’s health career-related
programs of study. Sanchez is a member of the Texas
Association of College Technical Educators (TACTE),
the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP),
and the South Texas Association of Microbiology Professionals.
St. Philip’s
College, one of the Alamo Community Colleges serving
the greater Bexar County region, is a comprehensive
community college designated as both a Historically
Black College and a Hispanic Serving Institution.
St. Philip’s College is accredited by the Commission
on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges
and Schools.
