In
keeping with San Antonio's FotoSiembre, colorful photographs
by W. Scott Vallance will be on display at San Antonio
College through Oct. 8. The exhibit is free and open
to the public and is located in the second-floor hallway
of the Loftin Student Center in the Journalism-Photography
Department.
Vallance is a commercial photographer and a new adjunct
lecturer in Commercial Photography at the college.
The display includes his photographs of the cliff
dwellings in Arizona, the White Castle Ruins in Canyon
de Chelly, Montezuma Castle and the Tuzigoot Ruins
near Sedona.
"Other images include hordes of Mexican free-tail
bats at Bracken Cave, home to the world's largest
bat colony," said Chet Hunt, chairperson of the
Journalism-Photography Department.
He
added, "Their emergence from the cave each night
is one of the most spectacular sights in nature as
the bats spread across thousands of square miles to
consume more than 200 million tons of night-flying
insects."
