On September 30, the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center presented Northwest Vista College with a plaque for Outstanding Community Support. Over the past two years, NVC has partnered with the organization to sponsor blood drives on campus. Between January and September 2005, NVC collected 596 units of blood.

"I want to thank all the students, faculty and staff who donated blood and recycled themselves so generously," says Student Activities Coordinator Daniel Johnson, who represented NVC at the luncheon held on Friday. "Our efforts would not have been possible without the assistance, coordination and support provided by Deb Morgan."

NVC's donations were surpassed only by UTSA, which collected over 1,000 units of blood, and SAC, which collected over 800 units.

The next campus blood drive will be held during the health fair in November, at which time bone-marrow testing will be introduced.
