Seeks Part-Time Instructors; College to Hold Adjunct

St.
Philip’s College, in an effort to recruit more
part-time instructors, will hold an Adjunct Faculty
Job Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12 in
the Continuing Education Building on the college’s
main campus at 1801 Martin Luther King Drive.
The
Job Fair is free and open to persons interested in
teaching at the community college level on a part-time
basis. Applicants are asked to bring transcripts and
supporting materials with them to the fair. The College
is in particular need of instructors in nursing and
auto body collision repair.
In
general, adjunct (or part-time) instructor positions
in the arts and sciences require a minimum of either
a master’s degree in the teaching discipline
or a master’s with 18 graduate hours in one
of the teaching disciplines. Minimum requirements
for adjunct instructors in applied sciences and technologies
vary according to program and/or occupational field.
However, minimum requirements for most areas include
an associate of arts degree in the occupational/technical
discipline plus three years of fulltime work experience
in the same discipline.
Part-time
instructors may be asked to teach day, evening and/or
weekend classes, though daytime weekday classes currently
are top priority. More information is available on
