St. Philip’s College, in an effort to recruit more part-time instructors, will hold an Adjunct Faculty Job Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12 in the Continuing Education Building on the college’s main campus at 1801 Martin Luther King Drive.

The Job Fair is free and open to persons interested in teaching at the community college level on a part-time basis. Applicants are asked to bring transcripts and supporting materials with them to the fair. The College is in particular need of instructors in nursing and auto body collision repair.

In general, adjunct (or part-time) instructor positions in the arts and sciences require a minimum of either a master’s degree in the teaching discipline or a master’s with 18 graduate hours in one of the teaching disciplines. Minimum requirements for adjunct instructors in applied sciences and technologies vary according to program and/or occupational field. However, minimum requirements for most areas include an associate of arts degree in the occupational/technical discipline plus three years of fulltime work experience in the same discipline.

Part-time instructors may be asked to teach day, evening and/or weekend classes, though daytime weekday classes currently are top priority. More information is available on line at the Alamo Community College District web site at http://www.accd.edu/accd/hr/empllist.htm.

St. Philip’s College, one of the Alamo Community Colleges serving the greater Bexar County region, is a comprehensive community college designated as both a Historically Black College and a Hispanic Serving Institution.
