Next Alternative Teacher Certification Classes at PAC Begin in January

Palo Alto College is accepting students into a teacher certification program that will help relieve the critical shortage of teachers. The next cohort of students begins classes on Jan. 8, 2007.

Adults who already have a bachelor¹s degree, at least a 2.5 GPA, passing scores on the THEA exam and 20 hours of classroom observation will be considered. Application materials can be downloaded from the college's website at www.accd.edu/pac/ce.

Applicants should call the program coordinator at 210/921-5590 to set up a personal interview and assistance in completing the application process.

Teaching certificates are offered in the following content areas: English Language Arts and Reading, grades 4-8 and grades 8-12; Life Science, grades 8-12; Physical Science, grades 8-12; and Career and Technology Education, grades 6-12.

Two classes are currently running with several candidates already doing their internships in surrounding school district.
