WHAT:
Grand opening of the ACCD’s Westside Education
and Training Center
WHO: Roberto Zarate,
chairman, ACCD Board of Trustees; Edgewood ISD Trustee
Marisol Martinez; ACCD Chancellor Dr. Bruce H. Leslie;
Edgewood ISD Superintendent Richard Bocanegra; Ramiro
Cavazos, former director of economic development,
City of San Antonio and Blue Ribbon committee member;
Community Representative Thelma Jackson; and Diana
Rendon, a student at the Westside Education and Training
Center
WHEN:
Tuesday, November 14, 2006, 10:30 a.m.
WHERE: ACCD Westside
Education and Training Center, 563 SW 40th Street
WHY:
To provide the community with an opportunity
to see this new facility where members of the westside
community can take classes to train for high-paying
jobs, to update their job skills or to work toward
a college degree right in their neighborhood

OPPORTUNITIES:
The ribbon cutting with all of the speakers on the
program (listed above) will take place at the conclusion
of the program. Each of the speakers will be available
for photos/interviews. Students from the facility
will be available for interviews in Spanish and English
and a tour of the facility for the public and the
media will be conducted after the ribbon cutting ceremony.
