Dr. Charles Wise Chosen "Educator of the Year"

Dr.
Charles Neal Wise, SPC adjunct instructor in Speech
Communications, was named the 2006-2007 “Educator
of the Year,” by the Texas Speech Communication
Association at the organizations eighty-first annual
convention in Amarillo Texas, October 4-7, 2006. Dr.
Wise is both a Life Member and the rare Emeritus (active)
member of the Association. TSCA represents almost
2000 speech educators in Texas at all levels of schools,
colleges and universities, and is the oldest and largest
such state organization.
Dr.
Wise was cited for high regard held for him by students,
colleagues, and administrators as well as for his
nearly half-century of teaching in colleges and universities,
in the areas of Speech Communication, Psychology,
Aviation Education, and Industrial Technology. In
addition, he was recognized for his long and meritorious
service to the Texas Speech Communication Association.
In
addition to teaching Speech at St. Philip’s
College, Dr. Wise also teaches for the Austin Community
College “Early Start Program” at San Marcos
High School in San Marcos, Texas. His previous teaching
assignments have included Memphis University, Texas
Tech University, Kean University of New Jersey, and
community college districts in both El Paso and Austin.
He has served as Associate Dean of the College of
Education (Kean University); Director of Curriculum
and Instruction for AGS, Inc. of Atlanta, Georgia
(Aviation Education); and Director of Training for
the Hughes Tool Company (Industrial Technology, BJ
Hughes in Round Rock, Texas).
Dr.
Wise and his wife June reside in Lockhart, Texas and
he commutes often to San Antonio in personal aircraft,
as he holds a Federal Aviation Administration Certified
Flight Instructor rating.
